Our Curriculum
The pre- school and Nursery classes are for age bands 1 ½ years to 5 ½ years. Classes in this session are:
- Butter Cup Class – Kindergarten 1
- Olive Class – Kindergarten 2
- Edelweiss Class – Nursery 1 and
- Lignum Class – Nursery 2 classes
Tane Crescent School recognizes the importance of this critical stage in the child’s development and blends the Montessori Teaching Methods with
Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to bring out the best in children.
The Montessori Method
The Montessori Method of education is a specialized method of education introduced by Maria Montessori (1870 – 1952). The method provides children with mental stimulation, meaningful activities and opportunities to develop self-esteem. Children are given the opportunity to become independent and care for themselves in a guided way.
The Montessori system recognizes the child as being highly sensitive and capable of intellectual absorption from the exposed environment. Towards this, children are introduced to themes and materials th00at aid accelerated development of the child’s intelligence. The Montessori Directress first observes and guides the child in the right path towards self-discovery and in the right momentum.
The Montessori Methodology is woven around the Practical life, Sensorial Exercises, Mathematics, Language and Cultural curricula areas.
EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS) CURRICULUM
The EYFS is an offshoot of the British curriculum. It’s a curriculum that guides the learning and teaching process and helps to establish an optimum learning environment in our classes.
The EYFS focuses on three prime areas which are:
- Personal, Social, Emotional Development (PSED)
- Communication and Language (CL)
- Physical Development (PD)
and four specific areas, which are:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive Art
The Primary Curriculum is divided into the junior primary classes and senior primary classes and is for ages 5 ½ – 11 ½ years. This session comprises of:
- Marjoram Class – Year 1
- Camellia Class – Year 2
- Chrysanthemum Class – Year 3
- Blue Bells Class – Year 4
- Jasmine Class – Year 5
- Rose Class – Year 6
Tane Crescent School focuses on a blend of the National Curriculum and British Curriculum as we are intentional about raising Global citizens. This fosters the development of creative, critical reasoning, problem solving skills amongst other skills.
The curriculum is suited to deliver superior education to the child using most modern learning aids.
